The Long Island EP — Fever & the Fret

Prepare for the perfect sleepy-eyed dawn-breaking single, “Sasha in the Morning” … Gabe Schicchi’s style of sound and delivery is made up of that awakening bliss after embracing a mythic lover somewhere in the fantasies of dreamland.” — Sjimon Gompers, IMPOSE Magazine

Singer/songwriter Fever & the Fret, the solo project of Gabriel Schicchi, follows the creative (self-proclaimed ‘bougie’) vagabond’s winding path. Now based in Miami, the Brazilian-born bedroom singer developed his musical chops while pounding the pavement in NYC’s garage rock scene.

His debut EP The Long Island EP (SW005)  has influences from NYC indie rock (read: a mixture of moodiness and cool wit) but is intermingled with sambistas ala Gilberto Gil. Composed of five polished, string-laden tracks, he recorded them within a week in his Long Island friend’s studio. That may be why it feels as desperately personal as it is. Its overarching theme is as universal as music itself: a desire for happiness.
